Think on the Good Stuff
Why is it that negative thoughts haunt us long after a bad moment passes? Confrontational situations, arguments, accidents, and awkward situations all can consume our minds as we replay them over and over. We second guess our reactions and obsess over what we should have said. It’s annoying. Why can’t we just let it go?
Someone once told me to harness the power of intrusive thought by using it to my advantage. Reflect on the happy things that occur. Focus on the good stories, the positive interactions, and the successful business deals. Use the power of pervasive thought to infuse your mind with affirmation and optimism-- reinforcing the good stuff.
Sure, sometimes it is easier to do it than other times, but I think with practice, it gets easier. Keep the victories up front, and push the negative moments back.
