Happy 125th Anniversary, Labor Day!
Labor Day 2019 is the 125th anniversary of Labor Day being celebrated as a national holiday. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882 in New York City.
By June 28, 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September of each year a national holiday.
Like many national holidays, Labor Day’s emphasis is now on barbecues, picnics, and back-to-school sales. But take a moment this weekend to reflect upon the freedom we enjoy and the ability to work at any occupation we choose.
The determination and resolve of America’s labor force create a level of prosperity that gives us the highest standard of living in the world...and we have the privilege to enjoy it.
