Stay Above the Fray #5–Communicate with Direct Mail

Stay Above the Fray #5–Communicate with Direct Mail

Since the pandemic, we have been inundated with emails. Let’s face it, we immediately delete or ignore most of them, and a few are pinned for follow up at another time.

Consider adding a print campaign to your marketing repertoire. Direct mail like postcards and magazines have staying power. They tend to be viewed multiple times and provide a fresh, new look for your audience. It’s a proven fact that tangible, printed advertisements are etched more firmly in the mind than digital ads. Studies have shown that people have much stronger recall about the details of a printed piece--even when and where they saw it—as opposed to digital.

A targeted mailing list can deliver your message to the exact clientele you wish to reach. Use a printer and mailing house or do it “old school” by buying an address list and doing the mailing yourself.

· Create a nice informational piece to mail or write a personal note

· Put a first-class stamp on it

· Handwrite the address rather than using labels

It will get opened.

This is a great way to retain current clients and introduce yourself to new ones. Try sending personalized notes to the clients on your email list and see what kind of reaction you get. Don’t “write-off” the positive influence of a simple postcard mailing!
