Take it with a Grain of Salt

Take it with a Grain of Salt

No business is exactly quite like yours. You have your own experiences and knowledge, and you know what "feels" right and what doesn’t.

Knowledge from experts, advice from colleagues, and good self-improvement books are valuable. But in the end, it’s about what works specifically for you and your business. Even the best business coach in the world does not understand (or should I say, “live”) the nuances of your day-to-day business like you do.

Avoid being overly influenced by the “best practices” of others. Whether you are challenged by staffing, marketing, budgeting, or creating good online content—listen to advice, observe other businesses, or have a discussion with your coach or mentor. But remember, this is your business. Nobody knows it better than you, so take that advice—but add a grain of salt and season it to fit your business.
