Wishing You a Holiday Filled with "Found Time"

Wishing You a Holiday Filled with

They say that lost time is never found again. I believe that’s one of the pain points of the holiday season. If you’ve lived in the northeast metropolitan area for a while, you know that there’s nothing worse than that realization that the clock is running down and time’s a-wasting. We’re always in a rush. Even the most organized person will, at some point, have their best-laid plans foiled by long lines, the non-arrival of a package, or traffic on the turnpike.

That doesn’t even calculate your typical work emergencies--year-end reviews and projects that need to be wrapped up before the holiday break. Pepper in a few holiday lunches and parties, and you’ll wonder, “where did that time go?”

It usually quiets down during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Maybe that’s an opportunity to make up some of those lost hours. Don’t get me wrong. It’s essential to enjoy the holiday and re-energize yourself with a bit of therapeutic home time, for sure. But, I would suggest taking a few hours during the week to do some planning.

Set goals for the coming year, review your insurance plan, ensure that your online bill payments are set up correctly, or check out that new project management app you’ve been meaning to try. Perhaps you should schedule a 30-minute phone call with a partner or your key staff to coordinate your calendars for monthly status meetings in 2022.

Lost time is never found again, but found time is priceless.

I am wishing you the gift of "found time" this holiday season. Cherish each moment and relish the joy of sleeping late. Embrace family and friends. Learn to simply “hang out” again.

And a deep breath when you’re stuck on the turnpike.

Thank you for your time, business, and friendship. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy and Healthy New Year to You All.
